A Day in My Life

Summary

I recorded a day in my life, then gathered the time data from the day to make into a Pie chart. I began editing my clips together, scripting my Narration, and then Recording my narration at home then editing that into my movie.

Pressure Screenwriter Post-production Journal

Summary

I wrote and edited the script for this production.

I recorded audio with Jordan.

I viewed the film and reviewed editing choices with Ryley.

Evidence of Further Input

“I like how we showed intentional pacing”-Me

“the clock shot turned out well”-Ryley

Evaluation of Script

I feel as though this script was not very artistic, it got the job done but i feel like i should have been more creative with it.

this script was quite well on the technical level, was very easy to follow during our production.

How I Could Have Improved The Film

I should have added more dialogue to the script, so it would have been used in the final cut.

helped production be more efficient by moving us along quickly in between shots

What I learned

don’t have one person be editor and director, these roles are quite dense on their own.

Pressure Screenwriter Production Journal

SUMMARY

I assisted with adjustments to set (closing doors, moving other things, keeping people out of shots)

I implemented off-screen dialogue(collaboration With Jordan).

I formatted the shooting script to its most effective usability.

Contribution to the shooting script

original shooting script
changes are marked with an asterisk and bold text

I made changes to how I labeled the type of shots needed so it was easier to follow while shooting

I made changes to my dialogue(on-site re-write heading for more details)

I took out a couple shots that we deemed unneeded as a team.

Challenges faced during shooting

team members being absent

lost footage of shots 1-3

the reshoots turning out bad

On-Site re-Writes during production

original off-screen dialogue

I decided during filming that I should change my dialogue to make it more specific to what is happening in the shots

Assistance Given to Director

doing small tasks on Trello, tracking sheet, etc, keeping track of daily tasks, keeping up on due dates

What I learned

I learned that having one person in control of the most important roles does not work out too well when they are absent a few times during production.

another thing I learned is that just because someone is experienced in a role does not mean they are good at that role.

I got some new software experience using Celtx, because this was my first time being a screen writer

4/24practice shots/decide costume for Jordan55min yes, costuming is an important feature of characterization development we wanted something not too “put together” to show the student’s tendency of slacking
4/25gather shots without Jordan, because he is absent(communicated)45min yes, since our actor was gone we decided to gather the shot that do not include him so we are not wasting production time
4/26gather shots with Jordan, Jayden absent (not communicated) so Ryley stood in as cinematographer. 50min yes, Since Jayden was absent(cinematographer) Ryley (Director) took over the role for the day so we could continue shooting
4/27 organizing shots, shooting more shots 50min yes, we took Thursday to organize the shots we have gathered throughout the week and delete footage we did not like
4/28communicating with Ryley through text because I am gone 50min yes, since I was absent I wanted to make sure that was communicated with my team+ to contribute virtually if possible/needed

Pressure Screenwriter Pre-production journal

Summary

I used the storyboard to write down the actions, then I wrote in some off-screen dialogue pertaining to the plot and actions. I made sure to create an intense atmosphere with my off-screen dialogue.

30. Fast-motion

34. Visual Foreshadowing

27. contrast of time

26. pacing

Script drafts

for the original script, we wanted no dialogue, but then we decided that off-screen dialogue would improve the film’s plot development and raise the stakes.

Final script

Characterization development

student stress builds as pressure from teammates and a fast-approaching due date cave in on him.

Influences

Michael Bacall

I chose to use his action-packed fast style specifically from the film Scott Pilgrim vs the World

We are achieving this effect through our shot techniques

Pitch: Student fights time to complete film

Treatment

character 1, the unnamed protagonist is a student who is in the film who has been procrastinating on his work for the production, as the due date keeps getting closer and facing pressure from their teammates they are beginning to crack under pressure.

Genre

thriller

What I learned

I learned that taking film concepts from my own life leads to easy and smooth storytelling.

I found this script extremely easy to write due to my lived experience in this class.

additionally, the collaboration between my team has been extremely helpful in completing my tasks.
